Original "About Us" Bio by co/owner Chad Olson
I have been riding adventure and dual-sport motorcycles for over 14 years. It all started with my 1993 Suzuki DR 250. From day one I was hooked. I would ride anywhere and everywhere I could on that great bike. My wife Sara even enjoyed riding with me on that little bike. We rode all over the Chicago area and then all over the San Francisco Bay Area on that great DR bike. I eventually moved up to a used 2002 BMW 1150 GS and a whole new world was opened to me, the wonderful world of adventure motorcycle touring. A few trips to the desert in Nevada and the Grand Canyon sealed the deal. So much so that I purchased a new 2006 1200 GSA and sold the '02 1150 GS.
While riding and farkling (accessorizing) my GS's I encountered a problem. I needed to get a compact and reliable tire inflation pump kit. I needed to be prepared for any tire problems I encountered out on the road. I searched the market but unfortunately did not find many options. Some pumps were nice but they cost over $100 and you still had to purchase a tire gauge and tire repair tools. $125-$150 was too much to spend on a 12-volt pump, gauge, and a tire repair kit. I found cheap inflators that were inexpensive but I didnít like the large size, unreliability, and the plastic enclosures. I saw the need for an affordable, extremely compact, and reliable 12-volt tire pump kit.
My brother Karsten and I tested dozens of tire inflators and did not stop until we found and improved a high quality compact pump. After 6 months of research and development we had the first Micro Tire Pump Kit! We are proud of what we came up with. It is a great balance of size, function, and power. Our pump is more powerful than most compact and medium size pumps on the market. Our customers find it just as powerful as pumps that cost twice as much. We carry the Micro Tire Pump Kit wherever we go. One for each car and one for each motorcycle. I showed them to my rider friends and gave a few away and people were really impressed with the size, power, and price. Adventure Designs was born.
While researching for the Micro Pump Tire Kits, I also noticed a shortage of quality motorcycle touring accessories and tools. Quality products were not easy to find. I knew there had to be a better way. I set out to create a better accessory source and began hand picking and testing many motorcycle touring accessory products. What you find on our web-site is the results of my research and testing.
I have been big wall rock climbing for over 20 years. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to successfully climb the face of El Capitan and Half Dome in Yosemite Valley. Through my climbing experiences and adventures I have learned the importance of having the right gear and equipment. Being prepared with the right gear can mean the difference between a great trip and a terrible trip. Sometimes it is the difference between survival, failure, and even death. In rock climbing it is also important to have compact and lightweight gear for efficiency. These important principles carry over perfectly to the sport of adventure motorcycling. On motorcycles, we have very limited packing space and weight is critical. I keep both of these factors in mind when selecting and testing gear for our company and customers. Our company goal is to offer only high quality adventure products at great value prices. We hope you enjoy our web-site and products. Great customer service is our goal. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions. Thanks for stopping by!
